This very well-presented early Mk2 1986 Ford Escort RS Turbo comes with a wonderful and genuinely personal backstory, excellent originality, and a strong ownership history.
Many years ago, our Managing Director operated a car sales forecourt in Fleet, Hampshire. One of his most well-known and keen local rivals at the time was Guy Cars, located just down the road. This particular RS Turbo was sold through Guy Cars, and in fact Guy himself was the salesman who supplied the vehicle.
In an interesting twist of fate, the salesman who worked at Guy Cars at that time later went on to join our Managing Director’s business, working alongside him for a number of years. As you can imagine, when this car reappeared for sale many years later, it carried a strong sense of nostalgia and significance — and simply had to be bought.
The car is accompanied by a good history file, and notably the previous ownership is excellent. The last owner had the car from the early 1990s, and during that time it passed from father to son, as recorded on the V5. In total, the car has had only a handful of owners from new, further reinforcing its carefully looked-after status.
Since acquiring the car, it has formed part of our Managing Director’s personal collection, where it has been carefully stored. However, it now makes little sense for such a special car to remain as a static showpiece, and the decision has been made to pass it on to a new custodian who will love it, enjoy it, and use it as intended.
Importantly, this is a genuinely unmolested example. The car does not appear to have had any paintwork at any point in its life, something that is exceptionally rare on early Mk2 RS Turbos. It presents in lovely, honest condition, exactly as you would hope to find a properly preserved example.
Cars like this — particularly early 1986 Mk2 RS Turbos with originality, low ownership, and real provenance — are becoming increasingly difficult to find. This is not just a great RS Turbo, but a car with character, authenticity, and a genuine story.
