Lot 59
Single owner since 1964
1927 James 350cc Model 11 Sports
Registration no. YB 8473
Frame no. 8441
Engine no. SS2038

The James Engineering Co, of Greets Green, Birmingham were at their peak in the mid-'twenties, having produced bicycles, tricycles and motorcycles of very high quality since 1902, their slogan being 'The Famous James'. By 1925 they were very prominent in Trials of all types and their road machines reflected the development of their for competition machines. For the 1927 season, one of their sporting machines was the Model 11, a lightweight, side-valve '350' sports model, popular in an era where the simpler side-valve engine gave most of the performance of an ohv with lower purchase and maintenance costs.

'YB 8473' is a well presented machine and has been not been used for some time so will require some sympathetic recommissioning before returning to the road, hence is sold strictly as seen. Subject to an older restoration, this pretty machine is offered complete with a V5C, an RF. 60 and other papers including photocopy brochures. A lovely and well presented machine for the flat-tank enthusiast.

£3, 500 - 4, 500
