DESCRIPTION
Now in its eighth generation, the Chevrolet Corvette’s lineage began in 1953 with the C1, but it was the arrival of the C2 Sting Ray (1963–1967) that truly defined America’s sports car. Styled by Larry Shinoda under Bill Mitchell’s direction, and inspired by influences as diverse as the Jaguar E-Type, the Q Corvette concept and Mitchell’s own Mako shark, the C2 combined stunning looks with advanced engineering and instant desirability.

Zora Arkus-Duntov’s new ladder-frame chassis introduced independent rear suspension for the first time, transforming handling and refinement. Available as both Convertible and Fastback Coupe, the C2 became an enduring icon, with early 'split-window' cars now the most sought after of all.

The car offered here, USL 841, was converted to right-hand drive by Ruddspeed Engineering of Worthing shortly after arriving in 1963, and is one of only a handful so modified by the late Ken Rudd renowned for his work with Austin-Healey, Alfa Romeo and Ford Mustangs during the 1960s.

Boasting an unbroken and well documented history over six decades, USL 841 has been cherished by several respected Corvette enthusiasts, including Simon Duval Smith and Mick Darknell, and has twice been in the care of Claremont Corvette. It also spent a period in Ireland with Wesley Glen. The car retains its original registration after briefly wearing 57 WNO between 2021 and 2025.

Presented in Riverside Red with a black leather interior and cream hood, this striking Convertible displays a, believed genuine, 63, 000 miles. Motivation is provided by a GM 350ci Ramjet fuel-injected V8 fitted around ten years ago at a cost in excess of £10, 000 and used sparingly since.

Accompanied by a substantial history file containing invoices, ownership records, restoration details and period magazine features, this rare Ruddspeed right-hand drive C2 offers exceptional provenance, excellent usability, and represents a seldom-seen opportunity to acquire one of the most distinctive early Corvettes in the country.
