Description
THE TRIUMPH Vitesse convertible was indeed a real "driver's car" when it arrived on the scene in the early sixties as a straight-six 1600cc up-rated version of the ever popular Herald. But, very quickly, it was to be re-born with a 2 litre engine and, in many cases, a factory fitted overdrive on 3rd and 4th which is what this beauty comes with!
A proper factory convertible with the chassis/ vin number ending in CVO (that stands for convertible with overdrive), she was lovingly restored by professionals around ten years ago and, according to the family from whom I purchased her, she has done just a handful of miles (maybe 200) since then and has always been garaged, started and warmed through etc.
Beautifully presented inside and out, she has an excellent and responsive 2 litre unit with working overdrive. You need have no fears about her structure either as she looks to be extremely strong in all the right Triumph places. An upmarket canvas hood completes the picture. These late Vitesse 2 litre factory drop heads are hot news at the moment with prices climbing rather than the heading in the opposite direction which is presently the case with some make and models within the classic marketplace.
As ever, I continue to be a keen, almost obsessive buyer and offer my classics with only small built-in margins. You will struggle to find a better Vitesse with this spec and in this condition for this money.
