Description
This is one of those truly wonderful finds and as we prepare the car for the market, we have decided to release some details to generate early interest. This genuine Lots Elan Sprint has been with one owner for a staggering 40 years and due to his attachment to the car, he has decided to have the car re-commissioned with our other Company, Malton Coachworks ahead of it going to its next owner. In forty years the car has covered just 5400 miles and the car offers a fantastic opportunity.
The Lotus was purchased in 1986 with a new spider chassis and at the time the owner was living in Great Yarmouth due to his work in the oil industry. It was a strong, sound, very good driving car and it was enjoyed over the summer, and garaged over the winter months. 4700 miles were covered in just a couple of years in Norfolk, and the owner then headed overseas for five years leaving the car in storage. On return to the UK, the owner was based in Aberdeen for five years, the Lotus was brought north to Scotland and 700 miles were covered over this time. In 1998, the owner moved overseas to the US on a more permanent basis and the car has been in storage ever since.
In storage the Elan has been regularly started but after twenty eight years unused, the Lotus has been transported to us for pre-sale preparation. The car has very straight bodywork, the chassis still superb and with aged, honest paintwork and trim, the car has the feel of an original well kept car. We are fitting a new battery, replacing ignition items, changing the oil and filter, draining old fuel and replenishing, and then will set the car up. We can either sell the car running, or fully re-commission the car and overhaul the brakes and put the car back on the road. The Elan has been photographed exactly as it arrived ahead of cleaning, it will be polished and detailed in the coming weeks but this is one of those cars to show exactly how its arrived. This is an exciting opportunity, options are available to discuss so we welcome enquires.
