Lot 36
A 1934 Morris Minor sports special, registration number JBM 412, chassis number 34/ MS42057, engine number E03A8018, green. This charming special is based on a 1934 Morris Minor with bodywork being fabricated and constructed by Chamberlains of Aylesbury from aluminium and steel over a period spanning 1946-1950. The front end nose cone is said by repute to be from a car that participated in the 1946 Turin Grand Prix of which both Maserati and Alfa Romeos were participants and overall the special has a striking resemblance to the Kenneth McAlpine Connaught (1948-51) L2 sports car. The Morris engine has been replaced with a Ford 1172cc side valve engine and 3 speed gearbox. Further modifications include the fitting of hydraulic brakes from the 10 hp Morris, MG wire wheels and MG style slab petrol tank. Our vendor has owned the car for several decades enjoying it on local trips and attending classic car events and maintained the car as necessary. There is a large history file containing previous MOTs, hand written notes, photographs, rally information boards, magazine articles, receipts and general information. This unique special is unfortunately having to be sold due to a change in the vendors health which means that he is unfortunately unable to drive the car any longer. V5, V5C, MOT and tax exempt
