A very special Smart Roadster. Only two previous keepers from new. Believed to be father and son. The first elderly gentleman purchased the Smart Roadster brand new from the main agent, “Smart of Bolton”. It was purchased as a holiday car and his intention was to trailer it on the back of the motorhome. Unfortunately he found the combination of the large motorhome and trailer too much. The car was very seldom used and after three years the speedometer was reading only 789 miles. By August 2007 the car was now in full time covered storage and over the coming ten years it would only be started occasionally. By March 2017 the mileage on the speedometer was reading 1088. Only 299 additional miles have been added driving the car to the garage for the annual mot test. In 2013 the elderly gentleman passed and the roadster was signed over to his son. It would remain in storage until this year. Earlier this year the decision was made to sell the car. Since March 2017 and the last mot the car has done a little under 300 miles which included a 200 mile trouble free journey to my home.
The Smart Roadster has had a recent service and full inspection prior to me advertising her for sale. The last mot was also issued with no advisories recorded. The Smart Roadster models are an increasingly rare sight on our roads and sure to become very collectable. I doubt if you will ever find another roadster with these low miles and in such stunning condition.

Exterior Condition: Completely Original and Unmolested. The bodywork is as nice as you will ever find. If you inspect her really hard you might find a very small chip and that’s all. The panel gaps are all perfect and the paintwork still retains the factory shine. All the door checks are spotlessly clean and polished. All the glass is in perfect condition. The convertible roof is in perfect condition and works as it should. The underside is immaculate, spotlessly clean and rock solid. The complete exterior condition is as near to new as you will ever see. Quite stunning and stands out from the others you might see.
Interior Condition: The interior is as new condition. The electric cloth roof material is perfect. The floor carpets have been protected from new by the tailored carpet mats and are as nice as the day the car left the factory. Even the tailored carpet mats are immaculate. The black leather seats are like new and have no wear at all. Looking around from the driver’s cockpit it is impossible to distinguish every single interior fitting from new. My Smart Roadster has not been a smoker’s car. I can’t stress enough how stunning the interior is. A very nice place to be in. And surprisingly comfortable.
Engine Compartment: Not a speck of dust or oil to be seen. The complete engine bay is immaculate and detailed.
Boot Compartment: Immaculate and showing no sign of ever being used. The black plastic trims are completely unmarked and the dark carpet pile is as new. There is a good load area in the front compartment and additional space to the rear. The locking wheel nut and safety warning triangle is all there. The tyre inflation kit is stored under the driver’s foot well. The load areas are quite perfect.
Alloy Wheels and Tyres: All four 16 inch “Spikeline” alloy wheels are stunning. There are no blemishes on the wheel face at all. All four alloy wheel rims still retain a high gloss factory shine. The inner wheel rims are just as perfect. They look stunning on the car. All four tyres are quality branded Bridgestone. All four tyres have just recently been replaced. The original tyres were beginning to perish from age only.
On The Road:
Turn the ignition key and the “Suprex” turbo powered engine bursts into life. It has a very distinctive exhaust note. As the car moves off you will soon realise what a special car this is. The suspension, steering and every mechanical and electrical feature works perfectly. The engine revs freely and the automatic soft touch changes up and down the box with ease. Switch to soft tip manual if you want to take total control of the six speed box. This is a mid-engine rear wheel drive car with very little overhang. The handling is taught and precise and a wonderfully responsive drive.
There is little more I can say about my Smart Roadster. It is really as good as I have described it. I have done my best to picture the car, given the weather conditions. You need to come and view my car. The car feels and looks as nice as the day it drove out of the dealership. I am confident my car won’t disappoint you.
The mot is supplied with no advisories recorded and the car has just been serviced. The car is ready to be driven away with nothing for the new owner to do. If you have ever considered owning a classic open top roadster but don’t have the premium prices they are often achieving. Here is the next best thing and guaranteed to soon be recognised as a classic. You could do a lot worse than mine.
This is a very rare and unique Smart Roadster. Totally original and unmolested. I doubt if there is a better one in the UK.
