BMW built the M635CSI from 1983 – 1989. It was built on the E24 platform, which was BMWs grand tourer coupe for 13 years, replacing the E9. The M version was BMWs second true M car, after the M1, and featured their famous M88 straight six engine. Just 522 right hand drive examples were ever built.
This example was delivered new on the 21st February 1986, by Harry Fairburn Ltd of Glasgow. It was finished in Polaris silver with black leather, only twenty cars were built in this classic combination. It was first registered as C860MWJ, and its first owner kept the car until 1995. He kept the maintenance with Harry Fairburn.
In 1995 the car passed to an enthusiast & collector in Jersey, with 71, 849 miles covered. He pampered the car, bringing it to England most years for a service at Munich Legends where the car remains well known and much loved. There are lots of Munich Legends invoices, including one for a substantial engine strip down, including cam chain replacement at 79, 049 miles at a cost of £7, 279. 51. There is also an invoice for replacement calipers, brake discs and master cylinder at 84, 500 miles.
Now back on its original UK registration plate, and with its third owner, this BMW has been meticulously maintained, both through regular local service work, and by more specialist work. The mileage is supported by the stamps in the BMW service book and the substantial service history recording in excess of £20, 000 of expenditure. The bodywork is pristine, as is the interior. And the car is in full mechanical working order.
