A very rare chance to purchase a piece of motorcyle history.
The SP stands for Sport Production and this version was made as an homologation special for the World Superbike Championship. Only 150 motorcycles were manufactured worldwide, all individually numbered on the top yoke, 150 being the minimum requirement to homologate the model for Superbike World Championship, in 1999.
THE ENGINE
Uses a special short-stroke version of the 60-degree V-twin engine, developed in collaboration with Cosworth, developing 145bhp.
THE EXHAUST
The APRILIA RSV Mille SP is equipped with a special kit, composed of a double “shotgun” racing exhaust for competitive use, with a special EPROM (erasable programmable read-only memory).
COMPONENTS
The fuel tank, exclusive and light, is made entirely of aluminium alloy (series 5000), while maintaining the look and design of the basic version.
Multiple components of the RSV Mille SP are non-standard and have been made of carbon.
The wheels were an optional (free) extra at the point of purchase from Aprilia Moto UK. As they were not shifting the numbers they were expecting (these bikes were £25, 000 new in 1999) they offered a free upgrade from the standard alloy Brembo wheels to the blue Magnesium OZ wheels as seen on this bike.
This bike is in exceptional condition and would make a worthy addition to anyones collection. Having only covered just over 1, 000 miles from new and having recently had an extensive service and rebuild by Griff at Aprilia Performance it is now aviable for sale.
