The Adams Roadster
Designed by Dennis Adams to create his version of the “Ideal 1930s Sports Car” – nostalgic perfection. He made 15 (or17) in all, 10 of which possibly remain in the UK so it is a very rare car.
Dennis Adams was probably the best British post-war chassis engineer responsible for the Probe, Marcos and Lister Jaguar. The “chassis is a 4”X2” and 2”X2”rectangular steel E. R. W. box section, crossed braced, and is arc and M. I. G welded then ground and polished before being spray finished in gun metal Hammerite”. The body is “hand lay up in 6oz GRP…. with all colour impregnated before spraying”.
Mechanically Adams used his own chassis, body and suspension, allied to Jaguar running gear. Most cars used the XK Straight Six 4. 2 litre, triple carburettor set up, producing impressive performance with a top speed of well over 100 mph.
It has beautiful classic lines from every angle, is large and comfortable with a spacious cockpit, large boot and weather-proof hood. Superbly engineered cars correctly registered as Adams Roadsters.
