History of the car
Genuine car that has had a general ownership. The car was originally purchased in 1973, registered and owned by a doctor who lived in the USK area of Wales and remained their until 2016.
The doctor owned the car up to 1988 sadly when he passed away and the car was sold to a local garage who took ownership.
The local garage (father and son) took ownership of the car in early 1988. In the same year the car was in a light flood was eventually parked in a shed behind the owners home for the next 28 years.
Due to the death of the garage owner the car was finally taken out of hibernation in 2016 where a friend of mine purchased the car and began restoration work on the car.
What has been done to the car?
in the last 2 years the car has had a lot of work done to the underbody of the car and the mechanicals which include:
- The engine fully rebuilt
- front and rear suspension being taken of the car, was stripped, rebuilt and powder coated
- drive shafts refurbished
- rear petrol tank refurbished
- All welding done to the under body of the car
- Wheels refurbed and powder coated, new wheel covers and tyres
- under body has been shuts and cleaned
- indicator stalk
What needs doing?
The car requires the outer body being restored and painted. some panels will require fabricating from the rust that was built up from when the car was store in the shed.
most of the panels I've have located in the UK which can be purchased such as the bonnet, boot lid and doors.
mechanically the car requires
- the fuel lines reconnecting
- Air filter box
- gear linkage (same as mk1 golf)
- new exhaust
interior
The interior could do with being restored to make the car immaculate again.
the headlining is in condition and door panels. the seats have aged but not in bad condition. The dash board has a few aged cracks on it.
The car still starts and drives but would need trailoring away as it is not in roadworthy condition.
This is a 46 year car which is in its original state and has not had any panels repaired or even had a paint job over that vast amount of time.
i am asking £5250 ono for the car which is a fair price as these cars are worth £12k onwards in immaculate condition. sensible offers will be considered
I have been told the car is one of the oldest B1 80s in the country.
Genuine reason for sale. I am a very big Audi 80 enthusiast and have to many other projects to complete and just could not taken on another project.
