Description
A nice 3 owner from new low mileage example of one of the Tomos special edition mopeds from the late 1980's These came with indicators and cast wheels as well as a headlamp fairing - otherwise they were pretty much identical to the other Tomos mopeds at the time.
Originally sold in larger branches of Woolworth and Woolco and the back of the Kays catalogue as well as a few dealers the Tomos moped was a copy of the Puch step through moped of the time, but made in the former Yugoslavia.
Rugged and cheap these were no frills basic bikes. No battery just a magneto and a kill switch meant very little to fail electrically and they tend to go on and on and on if properly maintained and the correct ratio of 2 stroke used.
This bike runs well, the electrics work and wouldnt take a lot to get it back to showroom condition, or simply use as it is and enjoy it during the summer months. Lightweight at just over 40kgs dry ( with a 3. 5 litre tank not a lot heavier wet) it lends itself to being carried on the back of a camper. Accelerates well to just over 30mph even with a rotund Northern bloke on the seat.
Comes with a tool kit - original handbook - dealer directory - and a file containing lots of useful material and workshop guidance. Parts are easy to obtain and there is a HUGE array of tuning bits available from Tomossport. nl
Last on the road in 2015, but kept in a dry workshop and regularly run since then. Collection from Preston Lancashire.
