Here we have a 1966 Ford Thunderbird 2 door Landau Special with 390 cu in V8 and automatic transmission. It was brought into the UK by a customer recently, and we are selling on their behalf. The car has passed the UK MOT (last one it will need) in April and we now have UK reg plates fitted VAM 643D.
The car is finished in maroon with a white roof. Bodily the condition is good, straight and true with only the panels behind the rear wheels being a bit tatty. The interior is ivory, and would benefit from a high quality valet and leather treatment. The car is one which can be slowly improved over a few years. The landau Special was top of the Thunderbird range featuring revised interior and instruments.
Underneath the car is totally solid, chassis, floor and sills. Its been given a dose of Dinitrol in the cavities too for additional protection.
But what a car to drive! Its very brisk for its size, its smooth, steers and brakes well and pulls stongly through the gears and down the automatic transmission too. Combine this with an irresistible exhaust note, and you have real muscle. Its one of the best driving Thunderbirds we have ever come across! The 1966 cars had 315bhp, and this is certainly believeable. It still has the original Z-code 390 4 barrel powerplant, and the recorded mileage of 57000 is believed to be correct.
