A truly pick up the keys and drive anywhere car, this was restored by a previous owner in California several years ago, and was prepared for USA road trip by an experienced shop (bringing in specialists where appropriate, including J&D Corvette) and replacing any mechanical parts we did not have evidence were in A1 condition.
Upgrades include o-ring calipers (I wouldn't own a Corvette without them!) and new wheel bearings, brake lines, alternator, new driver and passenger seat covers, UK spec radio with retro look but connects to phone etc, various sensors, seals and brand new aluminium radiator and hoses to make sure it was ready for 8 hours driving across the desert (it sits in the middle of the gauge completely stable no matter what weather or driving style) the car has period correct slotmags with almost new matching tyres (and super rare original centre caps) which are slightly wider than stock for extra confidence on the road. Front tyres replaced last week as they had lots of tread but I wasn't happy with a new owner driving on slightly aged tyres. Carb is spotless. Sealed beam lights replaced with modern bulbs and lenses (a dramatic improvement) and LED sidelights fitted. Exhaust was replaced 4 years ago. Original seatbelts are included but have been replaced with brand new ones to bring safety to modern standard wherever possible. New tie rod ends, ball joints, vacuum lines. We really did all this to a car that was already in perfectly good driving condition to make it ultra reliable for me and the new owner to enjoy.
While it is mechanically perfect, it does have some flaws in the paintwork visible from around 5 metres, cracks in the paint that don't bother me but the new owner may want to get corrected. There are a couple of cosmetic jobs that buyers can decide if they want to do or just have an utterly reliable car that will drive anywhere and enjoy it not being a trailer queen or getting scared of a stone chip every time you drive it. Enjoy it all summer long with the top down and spend a bit of time over the winter on it and you'd own a car that sounds incredible, drives perfectly and looks the business.
Birdcage is completely solid, I am happy to show buyers whatever areas we can reasonably get access to for viewings and inspections, the inspector used in California is a specialist who knows what to look for and where the problems can hide on these cars.
The car has original California smog pump still fitted, if you are into concours originality, and air con system is all there but will need regas (why anyone needs AC when the roof comes off is beyond me)
Piles of paperwork come with the car, I imported it and have all the California details, UK v5 is present and all duties paid. Tax and MOT exempt, note passed MOT for UK registration with no advisories as expected, and would happily have it inspected and valued professionally if buyer arranges this. I can share details of the garage that completed the MOT, who are Corvette specialists, for serious buyers.
