NOW SOLD - pending collection.
A first rate Lotus Europa Twin-Cam Special, that's been in the same ownership for the last 25 years, was fully restored in 2011, and has been well looked after and enjoyed ever since.
Fully restored by marque experts, Moorland Jones in Hammersmith, utilising a Lotus galvanised chassis. The body was colour changed during the restoration from original Regency Red to fabulous Roman Purple L21. This complements the oatmeal interior beautifully with full Ambla type vinyl and oatmeal carpets all having been replaced. All instruments checked and rebuilt where necessary, and correct grain dash fitted and original steering wheel correctly trimmed. It all still looks great today, and is so very period perfect.
The car sits on its correctly finished wheels, and these are shod with recent Pirelli Cinturato CN36's that provide a proper period look. Chrome work good and correct, with correct wiper blade, and period Vitaloni mirrors on both sides.
Body is excellent with a couple of very minor fractures on the n/ s rear wing and around the drivers door handle, but they do not detract from the quality of the car's overall finish.
There's a banker's box of invoices totalling nearly £40k's worth of expenditure, and since 2017 the car has been looked after annually by renowned expert Gerald Turner of GST. The last visit was in December 23, and saw the engine removed and all gaskets replaced, new timing chain fitted, new water pump, carb spacers, gearbox seals and a general tune up. Needless to say, it's great to drive with that pinpoint steering, rorty twin cam, and the period Lotus mid-engine dynamic that makes these so intriguing and special.
The car has spent the last few months on display at Lotus Cars visitor's centre at Hethel, as a reminder of the brand's mid-engined legacy. It was the feature Europa at the inaugural Classic Team Lotus Garden Party 2023, and was displayed on the lawns of Honourable Royal Artillery Company at the London Concours, 2021.
Now offered for sale as reducing collection, the car is offered to market prepared and ready for it's next owner.
