1956 Land Rover Series I 88″ Truck Cab – Rolling Chassis & Body
Here’s a rare opportunity to own an original 1956 Land Rover Series I 88″ truck cab — offered currently as a rolling chassis and body only.
What you’re getting:
Clean, original chassis in ok condition.
The bulkhead is ok, it will need a repair to the passenger side
Body panels include the front panel and grille still present.
Front axle appears to be Series I spec, with a Series II rear axle fitted (to the best of my knowledge).
Comes with four Rostyle wheels
V5 registration document included, in my name, ready for transfer.
After resting for around 30 years in dry farm storage in Somerset, the vehicle was previously used as a trials machine (with a Rover P6 V8 and automatic gearbox fitted). It has had no roll-cage or major body modifications—just the wings modified to accommodate extra lights.
What’s missing:
The original engine, gearbox and rear bulkhead were removed by a previous owner. My intention was to fit Toyota running gear, but given the quality and originality of the frame and body, I felt it was “too good to mess about with”.
Bonus option:
I have a selection of petrol 2. 25-litre engines available. These could be part of a separate negotiation if you’d like a power unit to match.
