Description

1969 Jaguar E type FHC. An original UK, right hand drive car, in its original colour scheme of Signal red with black leather. Fully numbers matching (engine, gearbox, body and frames) with heritage certificate, original VIN plate and original buff log book.

A highly original car which was owned by the previous keeper for 46 years. There is a huge history file with this car including a Jaguar heritage certificate, all of the original books and manuals, restoration photographs and well over 100 original receipts.

This car has been the subject of a comprehensive and careful restoration to a very high standard and at huge expense. All aspects of this car have received careful attention, to ensure that it is safe, reliable and that it drives superbly. I have completed around 1000 very enjoyable miles over the last year and made many minor adjustments with close attention to detail in order to ensure that everything on the car works as it should.

Offered at well below cost to ensure a prompt and fuss-free sale and representing a real opportunity for anyone in the market for a beautifully presented, well-sorted and very genuine E-Type with a comprehensive history. Any inspection is very welcome however I would respectfully request that potential buyers only make contact if they are in a position to purchase. I may however consider an interesting part exchange, so please feel free to try me. The car is located in Poynton, Cheshire, which is just 10 minutes from Manchester airport. After being in long term dry storage, restoration work started in 2016 with the previous, long-term owner who had a high quality body restoration carried out by FM Sports Cars in Warrington and a full, bare metal, glass-out repaint to a very high standard in the original colour scheme, which presents superbly today. FM Sports Cars also rebuilt the rear IRS assembly and undertook some basic recommissioning and other work. There are invoices from them for approximately £40k+.

Over the past 3 years I have invested huge amounts of time and money going through the mechanical systems and interior. Between FM Sports Cars, myself and other local specialists, the following work has also been undertaken:

Interior: new BAS headlining and sun visors in the correct grey woolcloth. The original leather seat covers are in lovely order with light patina and have been treated to new diaphragms and seat foams. Modern inertia-reel seat belts are fitted for comfort and safety. New underfelt and carpets have been fitted and the interior including the boot floor panels have been carefully and sympathetically re-trimmed as necessary in original type materials. The dash has been comprehensively rebuilt with new wiring loom, switch refurbishment, with instruments being either replaced, checked and calibrated.

Engine: Cylinder head full rebuild including viton valve seals, new valve springs etc with valve clearances carefully set up. The bottom end has had historic work and has had a recent re-fresh including water jacket flush, and various gaskets, studs, core plugs etc. The engine is on the button, has excellent oil pressure and compressions and runs smoothly, cleanly and strongly. The crank seals are good. A Martin Robey high-flow spin-on oil filter conversion is fitted along with a new braided oil feed line kit to the cylinder head and a capillary type oil pressure gauge kit (to replace the often unreliable and inaccurate electronic sender used on the Series 2).

Fuel system: The original triple SU Carburettors have been totally rebuilt including vapour blasting, ultrasonic cleaning, zinc plating of all steel components, new butterflies, spindles and all wearing parts replaced. New fuel pump fitted etc.

Exhaust: brand new exhaust manifolds and full stainless exhaust system fitted with all new hardware and mountings etc.

Cooling system: The entire system has been replaced or refurbished including a re-cored radiator, new water pump and thermostat, fan belt tensioner, water jacket cleaned out, new hoses, pipes, heater valve, rebuilt heater box etc

Braking system: Entire system professionally fully rebuilt to as new condition by Classicar Automotive including master cylinders, servo, reaction valve, calipers, vacuum tank etc. Fitted with all new reservoirs, hoses, brake lines, discs pads etc.

Suspension: Entire system stripped blasted, painted or powder coated and rebuilt with new bushes, hardware, dampers, springs, ball joints, hubs all rebuilt with new wheel bearing, seals etc.

Steering: Entire system checked and rebuilt as necessary including both steering column UJ's, Polybush comfort rack mounts, correct type track rod ends etc.

Clutch: Entire system renewed or refurbished including, flywheel professionally refaced by Ric Wood, new 3 piece clutch kit, new clutch fork pivot, new master and slave cylinders, new hose and pipes etc.

Gearbox: checked and refreshed including all oil seals, gaskets, mountings etc.

Propshaft: Due to the inaccessibility of the propellor shaft on an E-type, a brand new SNG Barratt propellor shaft assembly has been fitted with new nuts and correct type bolts.

Electrical: Brand new engine wiring loom and supplementary looms fitted, original control box, and relays etc all checked, refurbished or replaced as necessary. Various switches rebuilt or replaced as necessary, refurbished alternator and starter motor and new battery etc.

Brightwork: The bumpers have been re-chromed and various external brightwork such as bonnet chrome trims and headlamp surrounds have been carefully replaced.

General: New MWS wire wheels and Blockley tyres. Dozens of other wearing components have been replaced as necessary and where possible, original parts have been blasted, powder coated, painted or re-plated to ensure longevity.
