Description

A true classic slice of British motoring heritage, this 1971 MGB Roadster offers timeless style, spirited driving, and dependable mechanics. The specification remains authentic to how it left the factory. Lovingly maintained and garaged, it’s ready for summer drives, weekend shows, or simply admiring in your driveway.

MOT to August 2026 (No Advisories). I have MOT'd the car annually during my 3 years of ownership.

Classic car specialist serviced annually, latest service completed in August 2025 also included:
- Removal, cleaning and check of spark plug gaps
- Check of valve clearances
- Distributor and rotor arm checks
- Brakes stripped and cleaned
- Both front shock absorbers replaced
- Greased front suspension, prop-shaft and handbrake cable

Other work undertaken (all by a classic car specialist) during my ownership include:

- New HS4 carburettors (incl. spindles, throttle discs, jets & needles)
- New seats and covers
- New radiator and fan
- Brake servo kit added
- Electronic ignition (Accuspark Stealth kit)
- New battery
- Inertia seat belts
- New windscreen and rubbers
- New headlights
- Replaced timing chain
- New oil pressure pipe

The bodywork is also very good and all panels are straight and solid.

The V5 states 6 previous owners

Historic tax (free) and MOT exemptThe car is Tartan Red although the original colour was Bronze Yellow from manufacture I believe. It looks stunning (really turns heads) and drives beautifully. Oh that exhaust note - just wow!!

The car has wanted for nothing during my ownership and I have all receipts and detailed descriptions of the work undertaken by the classic car restorer I have used to maintain the car.

I even have the original invoice and "Passport to Service" for the car from 1971! along with numerous invoices, V5Cs and handbooks from previous owners.

Claim to fame: During it's life the car was once owned by the 1960s/ 70s popstar Steve Gibbons whose band "The Steve Gibbons Band" had a hit single "Tulane" in 1977 whilst signed to Polydor, along with links the The Who. Steve's name is on various bits of paperwork and even a photo of him.

I am a member of the MG Owners club so have loved the car as a knowledgeable enthusiast. I bought the car in April 2022, just after it had undergone an extensive refurb.

The car has the sought after overdrive gearbox, as well as electronic fuel pump, oil cooler, electronic ignition and brake servo for an enhanced driving experience.

I have loved this car to bits and the only reason for sale is that I'm now struggling to find the time to use it so need to reduce my "stable".

Thanks for looking.
