Stylish Riley RME in two-tone maroon and black, registered July 1954. Complete restoration in 1995, now nicely mellowed, with sensitive further renovations and improvements in my ownership over the last 5 years.
Beautiful red leather interior, in excellent condition, first rate headlining, and original dashboard instrumentation with attractive walnut fascia. Wood door cappings are excellent, as is the condition of the body, the roof, chassis, and all-important ash wooden frame, although the paintwork is now becoming a little dull in places. Work undertaken by me in the last 3-4 years, at significant cost, includes an engine rebuild, with new white metal conrod bearings, electronic ignition for reliability, new Riley Club oil filter assembly, new fuel lines, new coil and battery, also with change to negative earth, new wheel bearings, new brakes all round, new speedo cable, new stainless steel exhaust, new rear axle and differential, new rear suspension.
The car now drives very well indeed, and with new radial tyres the ride and handling is excellent.
There is also a file of papers, receipts, and correspondence relating to the car, including original logbook from the 1950s.
This is a very elegant, head-turning car, that has been tastefully renovated without removing all traces of originality. It allows for further minor renovations and improvements down the line, if the new owner wishes.
