Description
1960 Daimler Dart SP250
A fine, matching numbers model of this powerful British thoroughbred, which has a fascinating history, with over 180 maintenance and upgrade bills on file, spanning over five decades, it shows too when you drive it (like a Rolex watch) The folder also contains 41 past Mot’s and 18 old road tax discs. The vehicle was purchased 26 years ago by a keen DLOC member who exchanged the steel road wheels for new wires and had the chassis fully restored with new outriggers, sills, dampers etc. Over his tenure, he also fitted new discs, callipers, water pump, steering column and alloy fuel tank. He has done around 10, 000 miles, mainly driving to Club Rallies and says he enjoyed every mile.
The car has the rare addition of a factory Hard Top, which greatly enhances its all-year-round capability in rainy Britain. The foldaway hood has been rarely used so still looks fairly new and unfaded. The bodywork, being of composite construction (highly advanced at the time) is obviously rust-free and polishes up well and still turns heads. Sixty five years of driving has also resulted in some inevitable mellowing of the leather front seats, but the vintage aroma is present and the patina proves that this is a fine specimen, with a great deal of Daimler authenticity about it. Not a Concours glass-case job, just an honest well-maintained example, which has that go anywhere feel about it. In fact I would have no compunction in climbing into it and swiftly departing to sunnier climes.
