'61 RHD 11 Window Camper
If you're looking for something unique, then heres the perfect Splitscreen for you According to the M plate , this 11 window Kombi was planned to be built on January 24th 1961 & destined for Ramsgate , England. It was first registered in the UK on the 2nd May that year . The history throughout its early years is unclear, but we do have photos of when it was restored. Mechanically its had all the good bits done already, with a reconditioned 1641cc twin port engine mated to a 1302S gearbox & IRS, so cruising at a reasonable speed and pulling a trailer is easy. Up front it has a Creative Engineering steering system installed, together with disc brakes. Being a '61 it has the lovely bullet front indicators & small back window. As mentioned in the title its RHD & with it sitting close to stock height it makes for a really relaxed driving experience. The body is finished in Turkis green L380 & a custom mix Lilac , to the top half & bumpers . Deluxe beltline trim has been added, together with a nice allot side step. You have 2 polished frame pop outs & white wall tyre trims to complete the look. In the cab it has a bench seat, with 3 custom made headrests. A beautiful period radio is in the original position , whilst in a custom made housing, situated below the dash is a modern stereo. In the kick panel you'll notice a square box, upholstered to match the seats & door cards, this houses the washer bottle. Throughout this bus are so many unique & imaginative features. Open up the cargo doors & you'll find a stunning crafted oak interior, theres a certain "Artdeco" feel to the cabinet doors, finished in black & white formica but with complimenting stripes running through the corners. There are beautiful chrome fittings throughout & down to the smallest detail, look at the detail inserts around the top of each cabinet. The floor covering is not only individual tiles, but also extra care has been used to create the border. simply every element of the build is so well executed. As you look through the photos you can see the features. There are a couple of imperfections which should come out in the photos. This fantastic van is ready to be enjoyed by the next custodian.
