We started off with a RHD South African import. The bus was then blasted back to a bare shell and sent off to Brick Kiln for a full repaint in VW Guineau blue and Pastel white.

you simply couldn't build a camper to this specification and condition and is one of the reason we (G'day Kombis ) stopped building bespoke vans to order, cost of shipping and donor vehicles cost let alone all other elements became too high.

we have all the pictures on file of the camper shell pre blasting but with all key areas wire wheeled back to bare metal and any small damage or pin holes addressed. this is great provenance for the van and key to any new owners pre pruchase due dilligence when buying a classic vw camper for sale. Mechanically the bus is running a fully reconditoned VW Heritage 1800cc type 4 rebuilt engine with new old stock Italian 40mm Dellorto twin carbs, powder coated tinware, new clutch, stainless steel exhaust, uprated igntion system and a whole lot more. mileage will be confirmed once the van arrives back with us at G'day HQ.

one return from paint at Brick Kiln racing, the van was fully rebuit, being cavity waxed internally, sound deadended. all new headlining, new GRP Pop top roof. rewired, all new brakes and brake lines, new steering arms and suspension, a nut and bolt restoration.

We carried out a cam burn on the engine on our test rig then instaled in the van mating it to the 'freeway flyer' gearbox with taller ratios for better motorway speeds at lower RPM's.


Once the bus had its mechanicals gone through and the MOT test passed then it was time to run the bus in for 500 miles which we carried out for the client.


internally the bus has a new compact interior in oak, with deep blue and white trim with the striking matching blue floor mated to the trim. the curtains add a real splash of colour to the interior.

the Australian only roof has gas strut lifters and a double bed up top, so the van is a 4 berth, we can make in to a 5 berth with the additon of a cab hammock.



The pop top canvas bellows give a really summer vibe with its yellow and white hues even on a drab day.



The nice thing as always is the bus is factory built RHD but living most of its Life in Dry inland South Africa ensures the van has many years of service left.
