Description
Sadly I am going to sell my inflight project, I'd rather someone got to finish it and it got used.
It is a 1954 86" Series 1 with a rover P6 V8 engine. It has historic status as the engine change was done in 1984. The car is on a A suffix plate, because it was relieved of its original plate by a cherished transfer in 1984, in those days the DVLA assigned unused plates rather than a age relevant plate, but as it has been that for 40 of it's 70 years it's history right. Tax and MOT exempt.
The good news: it was stored from the 80s until 2024 in the dry. So the chassis is in excellent condition. One small area of rust on the rear cross member, that needs a small plate welded in. One area on the axle strengtheners, they need cutting off and if so desired easily available new ones welded on. I have rubbed down the chassis and primed and painted the correct RAF Blue for its age. It also has 5 new wheels painted RAF blue and new tyres. Also in boxes ready to fit are new shocks, new Autosparks wiring loom, fully refurbished twin carbs, new pickup roof in canvas and new seats in canvas. New fuel tank and new brake lines
The body is in good condition but does have holes where previous owners have fitted external washer fluid tank, fuel filler and battery box.
The bad news is it is a project in bits. Rolling chassis plus the body. It was my project for last year, but mum died and all year was taken up with sorting out her estate. I now find I don't have room for three Landrovers. The engine did run last year but needs servicing. The brakes need new hoses fitted and servicing. The fuel system needs reinstalling. The body work needs painting and reattaching. No exhaust.
I think it still has promise of being a great car you just need to build the "Meccano set" back together.
