Description
Having previously owned four MGAs, I bought this particular car as I was really impressed with the specification. I have now owned it for just under five years and have systematically improved what was an extremely good car. The owner before me purchased the car from Oselli Motor Sport for £36, 000 and during my almost five years of ownership my upgrades total more than £3, 000, making the car drive and perform extremely well.
Now fitted with EZ power steering which is adjustable to suit various driving conditions really transforms the car’s driving experience. With assistance turned up, parking and manoeuvring is extremely easy. On the road assistance can be reduced, giving a better feel at higher speeds. The quick release steering wheel boss and the 15” Moto-Lita steering wheel, make for much easier access and combined with the power steering and the adjustable steering column, transforms the car’s usability.
With the new SU carbs, the ‘123’ electronic distributor and stainless exhaust system, the car was rolling road tuned for mid range torque so it drives wonderfully with relaxed low revs cruising, yet with 70 mph easily achievable in third gear if needed. The ‘123’ electronic distributor makes a real difference to the smooth running and along with the new sports coil, leads and plugs, the car starts and drives beautifully. These upgrades transform the driving experience compared to a standard Mk1 1500. The rear telescopic shock absorbers improve considerably improve the rear end stability over bumps and potholes.
The complete new stainless steel exhaust system from the manifold to tail pipe, is fitted with two straight-through silencer boxes. This keeps the exhaust note to a minimum, in casual driving and touring, but when pushed it has the usual sporty MGA sound.
The previous complete restoration of the car is still in wonderful condition. The bodywork is finished in a very dark blue/ black with red leather interior and chrome work all in excellent condition. The frontal view of the car is clear of clutter with a mesh style radiator grill giving it a more sporting look. However, included are an original grill, original badge bar, spot and fog lights together with the correct bumper mounts, should a more traditional look be preferred. The car is now offered at a very advantageous price and represents excellent value for money in a car that has had everything done and just needs to be enjoyed.
