Description
The Mercedes 560 SL was the flagship model of the R107 range.
This model was produced from 1971 to 1989, before being replaced by the R129 after a highly successful run.
The 560 SL was introduced in 1986 and was available only on the American, Japanese and Australian markets.
The American versions had restricted performance, oversized bumpers and a third brake light, while the Japanese and Australian examples were built to European specifications (LHD for Japan, RHD for Australia).
The car we have available for sale is one of these rare Japanese-spec instances (only 3, 000 built) and sought after.
It is utterly unique as it is completely original and unrestored, which adds to an exceptionally low mileage of 37, 850 km.
This 560 SL looks like it's just rolled out of the showroom, and it feels like driving a brand-new car.
It comes with every option: electric windows, heated seats, factory hardtop, air conditioning, ...
The Diamond Blue metallic hue paired with the dark blue check fabric seats is simply stunning, and perfectly suited to this classy roadster.
Driving this powerful 560 SL is a real revelation.
Despite being 38 years old, it feels like a showroom-fresh dealer demonstrator.
Not a single rattle and everything feels as solid as a rock.
The silky V8 propels the car to illegal speeds in the gentlest possible way, and the four-speed automatic shifts as smoothly as in a modern car.
All of this is very impressive, as we just experienced during a 2, 500 km round trip through France.
What a car!
As the R107 SL is becoming a genuine collector's car, it's very rare to find an example in this condition with such low mileage.
We are delighted to have such an example available now, and we're confident the next owner will be very pleased with this beautiful Mercedes.
So if you want one of the best examples in the world, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
