Classic Car Design offers you this superb Porsche 996 GT3 from 2001 in a rare original colour “Indischrot”. It is the first of its name, recognisable by its astonishing wing. Alongside the Turbo, it is the sportiest of the 996s. Phase 1 was produced in under 1, 900 examples. The GT3 is certainly the prettiest derivative of the 996. The various aero appendages and the lowered suspension leave no doubt about the car’s track-focused purpose! Its initial registration was Monégasque (Groupe Segond) and it shows low mileage. Outside, this example is in very good overall condition, with no scratches or dents; it is evident that this car has been polished in the past. The Phase 2 GT3-style 18-inch wheels, here painted black, are not marked at all. There are only, logically, a few scuffs on the front splitter, which is very exposed given the ride height… Inside, the sporty atmosphere is obvious: out with the rear bench seat, in with the RECARO SPG XL bucket seats and the 4-point PORSCHE “Club Sport” roll cage. The seat belts are still present and are complemented by SCHROTH 6-point harnesses. To complete the package, the driver will appreciate the PORSCHE GT2 steering wheel. That said, a touch of comfort remains, the air conditioning is part of the equipment and the roof is clad in alcantara. The upholstery throughout is in very good condition. Mechanically, an important point, the GT3 engine stands out from the other 996s; here it is the block from the Porsche 962 and GT1 that hides under the small bonnet, known as the “Mezger” engine, after its designer Hans Mezger. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox—as mechanical as it gets! The enthralling flat-6 roar is very much present thanks to the stainless steel exhaust and invites you to push into the red. Braking lives up to the marque’s reputation. Here is therefore a very fine example of a 996 GT3; the service book is present and stamped by Porsche and specialists up to 2020.
