The Appeal
The crowning glory of its long production run, the DS 23 Pallas sits at the summit of the Citroën DS range, pairing the model's legendary hydropneumatic suspension and space-age silhouette with a fuel-injected 2.3-litre engine, five-speed manual gearbox, and a more refined cabin. These are capable, characterful grand tourers.
This example was purchased from Trad in Fusion, a North Dublin firm specialising in the restoration of classic DS models, and is finished in Blue Lagoon with matching upholstery and a cream fibreglass roof. A photo album accompanies the car, documenting the restoration work, which included welding and rust repairs underneath, an engine rebuild, and a full interior re-trim.
Prospective buyers should be aware that the car does require further attention. The engine runs unevenly and would benefit from a thorough service, and there are leaks from the hydraulic and braking systems that need investigation. Some paint blistering is also emerging on the driver's side. That said, much of the significant structural and mechanical groundwork has already been completed, and with focused effort on the outstanding items, this DS Pallas has the potential to become a very rewarding car.
The vendor says:
"In summary, this is a reasonable example that has benefited from substantial expenditure, although there are still areas requiring improvement. In our opinion, the final assembly and finishing could have been carried out to a higher standard, which is disappointing given the amount of work undertaken. However, much of the major work is already complete, and with further attention to the remaining issues, it could become a very nice car. It’s the top-of-the-line model."
