2004 Rolls-Royce Phantom

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • Luxury saloon with a 6.75L V12
  • Previously based in the Netherlands until January 2023
  • Valid PDK (technical inspection) until January 2024

The Appeal

Perhaps the car that set Rolls-Royce up for the modern age, the 7th generation Phantom is an awful lot of car that’s packed full of glitz and glamour. With a whopping great V12 powerplant, these were the Chichester brand’s flagship from 2003 to 2009.

This example, originally produced for the US market, now comes to us in fine fettle, with plenty of time left on its technical inspection.

The History and Paperwork

  • Originally built in 2005 for US export
  • First registered in the US in 2006
  • 8 previous owners - 15 including showrooms and dealers
  • Imported to the Netherlands in 2014
  • Exported from the Netherlands in early 2023
  • The vendor informs us that the car has covered 155,000km
  • Sadly we’ve not been informed of any paperwork with this vehicle

The Interior

  • Cornsilk interior with burr walnut panels
  • Impressive leather upholstery
  • Period-luxury options
  • Iconic Rolls-Royce door-stowed Teflon umbrellas
Presented in Rolls-Royce Cornsilk (colour-code RAR2), the cavernous cabin of the Phantom is a tidily arranged, highly desirable and immensely thoughtful design that, nearly twenty years later, still feels luxurious and stylish.

This example’s upholstery appears to be in good order, with only light creasing and wear to the impressive leather seats. The door cards follow this theme nicely, presenting very well throughout from what we can discern.

The impressive walnut dash is tidily arranged and well-appointed, joining the other sixty hand-finished wooden trims around the vehicle’s cabin in a stylish evocation of art deco, pullman-style design. The backlit options and instruments look to be in good order, and we’ve not been informed of any issues by the vendor.

From what we know, the car’s interior is unmodified - there’s no mention of modifications, and the car’s famous Teflon-coated umbrellas are still stowed inside their door sockets. We’re informed of no issues with the boot.

The Exterior

  • Imposing, boxy styling with the legendary ‘Spirit of Ecstacy’ ornament
  • Impressive chrome grille conjuring the golden age of the luxury car
  • Cornish white paintwork with plenty of chrome trim
  • Original Rolls-Royce wheels

Conjuring up images of the brand’s impressive heritage, the boxy styling of the Phantom makes for a highly beguiling, luxurious-looking motor - headed by that ever-iconic grille and the legendary Spirit of Ecstacy ornament.

This example, presented in Cornish White, looks to be in good order, with no dents or dings we can spot and the paintwork appearing to be in solid order. There are no chips, cracks, or bubbling that we’ve been able to spot from the photographs, save for light wear to the car’s lower extremities.

All of the chrome trim appears bright and nicely contrasting, with a couple of marks and smudges here and there. We can’t spot any missing areas of trim or branding, and the retractable hood ornament really looks the part.

The glasswork and lenses look to be in good order with no chips or fractures, and the car is sitting on its original, colour-matched, branded wheels - which are shod in a set of tyres that carry plenty of tread.

The Mechanics

  • Powered a 6.75L V12 engine
  • 6-speed 6HP32 Automatic transmission
  • Valid PDK (technical inspection) until January 2024

With that whopping great V12 in the hood, and a gliding 6-speed automatic transmission, the Phantom is a highly powered, high-octane parlour on wheels.

We’ve received no reports of leaks, knocks, bangs or smoke from the engine, and with a fresh PDK still on the car’s books, we see no reason this car shouldn’t make for a superb purchase for the luxury-minded collector.

Summary

Highly presented, with a luxurious inner appointment, this car should make for a highly-prized addition to the lucky buyer’s garage.

The safest way to buy a classic car online

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you’re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
