This is a Sylva J16, designed by the renowned kit car designer Jeremy Phillips, and is the number 3 chassis (the first 2 having been built by Jeremy). The kit was purchased from Jeremy prior to Sylva Sports Cars being sold to the new owner.
The car has covered about 1200 miles since IVA, which it passed in March 2016.
The car is based on an S Reg 1. 8 VVC MGF, that I ran prior to dismantling for 3 months to make sure all was OK. Engine is fairly standard bar a slightly bigger throttle body (52mm), Viper induction system and a custom made Powerflow rear exhaust system. The Inlet plenum was modified by Bogg Brothers to obtain engine clearance. The Head Gasket had already been changed and water pump and cam belt changed prior to installing the engine. It has twin cooling fans installed with one controlled by manual switch, if required.
Front brakes are new HiSpec 4 pot callipers and rotors, with reconditioned MGF callipers at the rear with new standard rotors. Adjustable dampers all round.
Build work completed to a high standard with panel work very tidy and interior well trimmed and finished. ETB gauges and high quality switch-gear used throughout.
Wheels are as they came off the MGF and could do with powder coating if that sort of thing is important to you. It has Toyo Proxes all round and the private plate will stay with the car, too!
The photos were taken last autumn and I have made a few improvements over the winter.
I am not aware of any other VVC models on the road, so this is quite rare.
