Description
1952 Lanchester 14 Drop-head Coupe, 4 Cylinder, 1968cc
Lanchester built the first all British motor car in 1895. This Lanchester 14 design was appropriated by Daimler for the later Daimler Conquest Saloon and drophead coupe.
Much work completed on this car with not many miles covered. Front inertia seat belts, fully refurbished interior (costing approx £4k), reconditioned engine (£3k), overhauled brakes, refurbished dash and instruments, 3 position hood, good tyres. Recent replaced headlamp units, spot lamps not yet wired up. Dif pinion oil seal, rear engine/ gearbox support, rear exhaust, modern period appearance RetroSound radio, including a concealed base unit to provide modern audio performance. Runs well. This car is very presentable, but there is always room for improvement. Has always run without issue, other than instrument failure that resulted in instrument repairs and dash refurb. This car was converted to replicate a Lanchester 14 DHC that appeared at the 1952 London Motor Show, but which are since lost. One of two such conversions on a Lanchester chassis. Conversion of this car is documented in the Daimler Lanchester Owners Club magazine, June 2006; copy will be supplied with history file. Attracts attention wherever it goes. If I were keeping it next jobs would be; fit boot rubber (supplied), get a new full stainless exhaust made and fitted to the car (existing mild steel is good), improve the front bumper. Includes 12 months MOT. Reason for sale; too many cars and need to make space & time for new projects.
