MGTC 1945 Chassis TC 0331 Engine XPAG 1032. Original NSW Registration XP 159.
MG TC 0331 was ordered by Motors Limited of Gilbert Street Adelaide, South Australia on 11 December 1945 and was completed at Abingdon on 13 December 1945 and shipped on the “DURHAM” departing England on 21 January 1946 arriving in Adelaide on 25 March 1946
It is one of the first MGTCs to be imported to Australia and possibly the first to arrive in Adelaide for Motors Ltd as the next 4 did not arrive until May 1946 in 3 different ships.
It was sold by Motors Limited as an ex-demonstrator to Walter James Lincoln (Jim) Gurner on 28 February 1947 for 612 Pounds.
Jim Gurner attended Prince Alfred College in Adelaide and the records of the speech night on December 19 1940 states he was Sixth Form (A) Dux ijas. and won the Geoff. Robin Memorial Prize. Later records note that “Cadet W. J. L. Gurner, who gained 100 per cent, proficiency in the recent Air Training Corps tests. B Flight of No. 70 Squadron of the Air Training 12 Sept 1942”
Jim Gurner served in the RAAF ending as a Warrant Officer in 1945 with 101 Squadron.
In 1948 at the age of 23 Jim studied engineering at Sydney University and attended Wesley College. This is why TC 0331 ended up in Sydney. Jim was married to Roberta Craig and died in 21 September 2006 at the age of 81.
Jim Gurner sold it to Tom Bridge from Wandandian NSW in 1951. Tom Bridge died in 2015.
Tom Parrott from Anna Bay NSW purchased it for $15, 500 19 March 1990 from Tom Bridges.
Tom became unwell after he started the restoration.
In 2015 purchased by current owner and exciting restoration recently completed.
