Due to a new toy I am putting my very rare Seat 1500 hearse up for sale. I imported it back in January 2018 and I believe it is the only one in the UK. It is correctly registered and on UK plates. As you can see it looks like a Fiat 2300 this is because Seat were building Fiat's cast offs back when they first started. It is a 2300 body with the older Fiat 1500 engine which was tuned slightly to help it pull the bigger later body around. I believe this one was part of a batch of 50 odd Seats that were built as vans. It was then converted in Spain by Mirsan coachbuilders. It is a standard wheelbase and height as the estate car but has the rear doors welded shut and a different roof and tailgate. It could be converted back to an estate if you wanted but I quite like it as it is.
I bought it in Barcelona and drove it 900 miles home. Since it made it back I have carried out a lot of work including a bottom end rebuild, full brake overhaul, new tyres, radiator rebuilt, Alternator rebuilt and loads more that I have forgotten. Being from southern Spain it has very little rust. I have just done a small amount of welding in the spare wheel well and the boot floor whilst I had the deck out to get the fuel tank out for professional cleaning. Whilst the deck was out I have replaced the wood base with structural ply as it was the original chipboard which was very heavy. I have also modified the bulkhead behind the front seat to obtain a little more legroom. I have modified the deck slightly so it can be raised for extra storage underneath. (It is still useable as a hearse if required.)
The paintwork needs some work as it has quite a few small dinks and dents from it's time in storage. The interior is ok but could do with new mats. I have some history and spare parts that are included. It is now mot and tax exempt, but I will put a years mot on if required.
I have done even more work to the hearse in the last couple of months before taking it to France last week. It now has a new webber carb a new distributor and after fitting all that the clutch failed so it has a new clutch and all the seals on the gearbox replaced Give me a call if you would like more information or to view.
