I bought this part-finished AK Cobra with the intention of completing it, but I now have a Replicar to build, so I need the space. I’ve checked the chassis number with AK and it matches along with its body colour. The rolling chassis has been built using donor brake and suspension components from a 1979 Jaguar XJ6 4. 2 (I have the V5C), but with lots of new parts. There are new discs and pads all round with in board rear discs and handbrake cables (a handbrake lever is included but not fitted). Some brake lines have been fitted.
The suspension appears to be new or overhauled (lots of receipts for it are included) with twin coilovers at the rear and double upper and lower wishbones at the front with single coilovers. The Jaguar rear differential has been fitted along with the driveshafts. At the front, there is a Rover SD1 steering column and Jaguar rack fitted, and the steering works correctly.
There is no engine or gearbox fitted, but the engine bay has been correctly lined and inner wheel arches are also fitted. Hence, the front suspension appears to sit too high in the photographs, but that’s due to a lack of weight from the engine and gearbox.
There are lots of extras included with this rolling chassis/ body, including a pair of low back bucket seats, two roll hoops, a stainless-steel fuel tank, a large Monza style filler cap and all exterior lighting (headlights, front indicators and rear lights - all fitted). The doors, bonnet and bootlid have all been fitted and aligned on their hinges.
The bodywork has been secured to the chassis. Its yellow gelcoat finish is in good condition and I have recently fitted twin black centre stripes.
I understand a brand-new rolling chassis/ body package costs roughly £15, 000 from AK Sportscars, so this second-hand unfinished kit is a lot cheaper and sensibly priced at £8495. If you’re interested, please call Mike on the details below.
