The BMW 507 is being considered as a timeless icon of automotive history. Designed by Albrecht Graf von Goertz, the 507 was presented in 1955 at the IAA in Frankfurt. With a price of about 26. 500 DM, the BMW 507 was one of the most expensive sports cars at that time. Although numerous celebrities adorned themselves with the 507, this was not accompanied by the desired commercial success, however:
instead of the expected 5. 000 examples, only 252 cars were produced until 1959 and thus the BMW 507 is much rarer today than a Mercedes 300 SL ...!
In 1959 this BMW 507 was delivered to Portuguese East Africa (today Mozambique). Later the car was extensively restored by the BMW-specialist “TT Workshop ltd” in England. Finally the car was purchased by a German col-lector. The BMW 507 is one of the most sought-after collector vehicles worldwide.
