1959 Volvo PV544 B16 Sport.
Perfect Patina
This is a very early, rare and original sport version of the highly sought after Volvo PV544.
As designated by the 5th digit of the chassis number (08). Meaning a US market sport model featuring the B16B engine with four bearing crank and four speed transmission, twin carburettors and twin interior mirrors along with external chrome body mouldings.
The car features a 1600 cc four cylinder in-line engine mated to a four-speed manually operated gearbox. The ‘Sport’ engine features twin S. U. carburettors and the engine delivers a healthy 85 bhp.
What you see is what you get, nothing to hide under any shiny paint.
This car is in remarkably solid overall condition with the perfect patina that can only come from being drenched in the sun for 60 years.
The body appears to have retained all of its original panels and trim.
The panels are all in good solid condition with the exception of the boot which has a large dent near the handle and is missing the boot lock.
The wheel arch areas are in great condition as are the sills.
Both front floors will need replacement and there are some small holes to the spare wheel area.
Many rubbers are tired and need replacement but the glass is good and the chrome work is excellent.
The car has retained its original factory white and blue interior. As designated by body tag number 24-143 (meaning white with blue on top for the original trim )
The back seats are in good condition but the front seat bases will need replacement along with the dash board top. All need a very good clean, or given the low cost simply replace the lot. Currently missing a door card from the drivers side.
All the parts are readily and cheaply available to restore this, from UK and Dutch companies with swift delivery
Mechanically the car has not been used for many years but despite this it sprang to life straight away and runs sweetly.
As you can tell from the pictures the hoses etc are in good condition so the car appears to have been maintained well prior to its period of inactivity.
The car can move under its own steam but needs a mechanical recommissioning especially the brakes.
It must be collected on a trailer, it is not currently save to drive.
Comes with complete title and Nova ready to be registered.
