Hopefully, the pictures of this rather special R65 tell some of the story as to why it’s rather special.
The first, and i guess most obvious upgrade, is is the genuine BMW RT fairing. This has been fitted s well, it makes you wonder why BMW didn’t off this set up as an option. To compliment the touring set up, the bike is fitted with a very nice set of quickly detachable Sigma panniers. All finished off in that very smart smoked gold / bronze coachwork.
BMW fans will also have noticed some of the other upgrades. These include a full stainless exhaust system, Koni rear shocks, surefoot side stand, twin discs, crash bars, braided lines, and a brand new pair of Bridgestone tyres.
The one thing that you can’t see, and this REALLY sets the bike apart, is the brand new Siebenrock 860cc power upgrade kit. This amazing piece of kit has literally just been installed, with the bike having covered only some 150 miles since installation, so will need running in. As you can imagine, this gives the bike a huge power increase, especially in mid range torque, and when fully run in, will produce more bhp than the much larger and heavier R80’s.
There is a significant history file to accompany the bike, with a huge raft of previous MOT certificates to support the 41k recorded miles. There are also receipts for the new Siebenrock kit, tyres, carb upgrade, etc, etc.
All in all, this bike has the makings of a real stand out motorcycle. Clearly, huge amounts of money have been invested in this bike, with much of the upgrades being completed this year. It’s not an unmarked trailer queen, it is after all, a 40 year old classic, but i’m sure that you’ll agree...... it’s rather special.
