This 1968 Jaguar 420 is a very rare South African delivered car, finished in the stunning Cotswold Blue with a Beige interior. This Jaguar has the desirable 4-speed manual overdrive gearbox, it’s original 245hp straight six plus the essential Marles Variomatic power steering.
The car was repatriated to the UK in 2000 in excellent original condition, very solid having benefitted from its long life in a warm climate. The car was then dry stored until 2010 when it was adorned with a two-year restoration including a bare metal re-spray, plus full brightwork renovation and new carpets, headlining and interior panels. Remarkably, the car retains all of its original body panels and many original interior components. The interior benefits from a retro sound radio with iPod connectivity whilst also retaining a period Motorola item as a spare.
Mechanically the car is exceptionally well sorted having had the overdrive rebuilt May 2018, new timing chains 2013, rebuild of the HD8 carbs by SU themselves, a power steering rebuild and has received regular maintenance.
