Description
This very smartly presented early Jaguar E-Type Roadster was manufactured on the 13th June 1963 and was distributed by Jaguar Cars New York. The E-Type left the factory in Carmen Red with Grey upholstery, black hood and was supplied to its first owner in Inglewood, California and stayed in the U. S for 34 years. The E-Type arrived from the U. S in very original, solid condition with an excellent original tub and AJM 456A was registered in the UK in 1997 and restored around twenty three years ago. AJM 456A first came to us in 2013 and then spent six years forming part of an impressive collection of cars. The car came back to us in 2019 and we sold it to a client living between the U. K. and Dubai. During his seven years of ownership, he has covered around 1000 miles and has spent almost £10, 000 on the car, upgrading it with a 5 speed Getrag gearbox, all overseen by Jaguar expert Ken Jenkins.
From around 2003 to 2013 the E-Type was with one owner in the Glasgow area and covered almost 9000 miles over this time. The E-Type was kept in regular use and was a regular attendee of the annual classic car rally at the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride, Glasgow. Since knowing the car it's always been an exceptional driver and has some excellent upgrades suiting a buyer for an early E-Type with regular use and long distance touring in mind. This car has the 5 speed gearbox fitted in 2021, Coopercraft brakes on both the front and rear, Gaz adjustable shock absorbers, electronic ignition and an uprated fuel pump. Now back with us, the car performs faultlessly with a strong rebuilt engine holding perfect oil pressure. The Getrag gearbox is a delight to use with smooth changes and the Coopercraft upgrades really do work efficiently with sharp, keen braking. Driving the car is a truly fantastic experience and will not disappoint, this is an E-Type that should be driven and has proven reliability.
On inspecting the car, we can report lovely panel gaps and high quality door shuts. The body is beautifully straight and the Carmen Red paintwork has nicely aged and presents well. The interior was re-trimmed after selling the car in 2013 and is excellent and the chrome work is of a very high standard. The engine bay is detailed with a sharp, clean engine, bright ancillaries and nicely painted frame as you would expect with a car of this quality. The boot compartment is excellent, the hood in lovely order. Many years on since restoration, the car isn't a pristine show standard car, but a lovely, useable and well presented, attractive looking E-Type that drives absolutely right.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a highly desirable genuine 3. 8 model E-Type Roadster that will be ready to drive away and enjoy at a very sensible price. The car comes with a good file of paperwork, invoices and Jaguar Trust Heritage Certificate.
