This is very special indeed, I bought this in bits from a deceased estate, he was an engineer / privateer racer, the engine is what attracted me, as you know, it’s a GP top end, everything inside is lightened and polished, crank, rods, pushrods, valve gear, ported and flowed head, ( I have pictures ) I had Hamlins of Bridgewater replace a couple of valves, pistons are new, I fitted new rings as a matter of course.
And checked everything over.
Frame is a Norton Wideline with numbers.
I have built it up as a homage to the the Freddie Cooper / Motor Cycle News IOM racer, although that bet was to build and race a bike for under £100 at the IOM, this has cost quite a bit more than that ????
Workman ship is top class, ready to race or register for the road on a day time ticket, sounds awesome and will look fantastic in anyone’s collection, the GP engine is as rare as hens teeth, drilling on the engine mounts is mirrored both sides and would take an age to do, pipes are custom made open megaphones, oil tank a one of commission, petrol tank is a IOM size that was for a Vincent, I added a Matchless G5 Fly Screen to finish it off with a speedo fitted which I think just gives it that certain something, endless parts and part manufacturing has gone into it, I am bias, but I think it’s one of the best available, certainly the rarest.
