Ok then, if you want to read a little more about the car, this is what it's all about in a little more detail; 'The Spiel'.
We bought this car in 2015 from my father in law at the Kia dealer he was MD of, it was 18 months old and had travelled a mere 7000 miles! It is now just over 60, 000 and it has performed them faultlessly, only requiring routine servicing such as fluids, tyres, bulbs and recently brakes. We have replaced the Venga now with something a little bigger, a 4WD to better cope with our rapidly growing dog and country lanes that flood and become icy this time of year - we've been lucky so far this winter with flooding, but don't want to risk the Venga in such conditions.
The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed that I've listed this car as 118bhp rather than the standard 90bhp - this is not a typo! We have had the engine remapped, which involves digitally adjusting the computer-controlled injection of fuel and the turbo regulation. For those that have driven a Kia 1. 4 CRDI, you will understand why! Whilst a low emission engine (£30 tax) and economical, as standard they also suffer from quite noticeable turbo lag, and for this size car 90bhp isn't really enough for much outside of town; so we decided to improve it. At the specialist we specified that we wanted it to be more responsive, have less turbo lag and have better motorway performance - without impacting the economy too much. As standard this engine was putting out 95bhp instead of the book figure of 90bhp on the rolling road, so a good start! It ended up at 118bhp, MUCH better throttle response, noticeably less lag and a surprisingly nice little bit of shove when you need it, not bad for a little 1. 4. It has increased the economy on dual carriageways and the motorway too. You do have to declare the remap to the insurance sharks (their category of 20-25% increase in power), but has made the car so much easier and more enjoyable to use. There is a print out of the rolling road statistics post-remap included in the service history.
Economy-wise, we usually get mid-50's on a 5-mile commute through 2 towns (traffic!) with a hilly national limit dual carriageway between. However, on the motorway this car is very competent, the best we have had is 83. 2 mpg, and high 60's to mid-70's is easily achievable, the remap has helped the motorway performance and increased its economy here too.
There is almost full service history, it has been well looked after both by the 1st owner and us, being regularly serviced. We have not done very much to it really; it has been a very reliable car - just doing its job. Last year we had the a/ c system serviced, a check over and a re-gas and the rear tyres replaced. This year, we've had the auxiliary belt and fuel filter done and with the MOT in September, it was serviced and had the front tyres, front brake discs and pads replaced. There was an advisory this year with the rear inner brake pads wearing thin, so the rear brake discs and pads have all been replaced 18/ 01.
There are some small age-related dings and car park scrapes around the car, the only noteworthy cosmetic imperfections are that someone reversed into it with a tow bar a couple of years ago and damaged the rear bumper, there is a scrape on the passenger’s wing mirror and a small dent in the driver’s side rear wing. Otherwise it shines up quite nicely.
To summarise, I am selling this well maintained, remapped and improved, low mileage, comfortable, practical, reliable and cheap to run vehicle. What's not to like? It's a shame to sell it really as it has done us so well, we've been all over France in it, I commute to Bristol once a week in it (160-mile round trip) and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and jolly off to somewhere in deepest darkest Europe! I'm sure it's new owner will get similarly sensible and economical motoring out of it and I can’t foresee any unpleasant bills in the near-future now that all four of the tyres and brakes have been done, just regular servicing.
Prices seem to range from £2800 to £6000 for this model, engine and year, considering the mileage and condition I would place this car in the upper-average section of around £4250, I would be willing to accept sensible offers but nothing silly please – we have maintained this car well, even improved it.
If you have any questions please ask, and viewings are more than welcome although the insurance expires 25th January now that we have replaced it with another vehicle.
Price reduced as we need this gone now.
