This incredibly original, lovely motor car has driven to us from the Scottish Borders without any hesitation. HPM 208D was first registered on the 3rd May 1966 and has been carefully owned throughout its entire life, arriving to with us in Yorkshire with 99000 genuine miles. The car is still in its original specification, original factory colour, retains a largely original and stunning Red leather upholstery and even still retains its original 1966 number plates. Some of the paintwork is also completely original which is remarkable considering the car is 53 years old.
Our Rover presents beautifully with a delightful patina, the underside is structurally excellent, the paintwork nicely, chrome work is lovey throughout, wheels are in very good condition and the Rover has a brand-new set of tyres. The bodywork is incredibly strong, panels are straight and panel gaps are all consistent. The upholstery is exceptional with beautiful original Red leather, superb as new replaced carpets and good quality door cards, headlining, dashboard and original gauges. The under-bonnet area and boot compartment are very well presented considering what an untouched original car this is.
On the road HPM 208 is sensational and has to be one of the best driving 1960's Rover's we have come across. The 3 litre engine is unbelievably quiet, it sounds as one would expect a brand new Rover 3 Litre to sound. Gear changes are perfect, the car handles superbly with working power assistance, brakes are efficient and having covered around 200 miles driving to us, its clear the Rover is reliable, usable and absolutely on the button. The Rover has recently been treated to a full service, inlet and exhaust valve clearances have been set, new valve cover gaskets fitted, ignition timing set, new dynamo belt, new fan belt, new coolant hoses, new throttle shaft bushes and the power steering system fully serviced. The P5 comes with an impressive history file spanning almost thirty years and whilst it's been kept in regular use, we can see its covered 14000 miles in the last 28 years. This is a real time warp, a fantastic 1960's family saloon that's capable of regular use with a truly wonderful, super quiet 3 litre engine.
