1961 Kerry Capitano 49cc
Reg. no. 718 EOK
Frame no. 3083
Engine no. 4360
London-based company Kerry had an intermittent history in the motorcycle industry; having started production of Belgian FNs under license at the dawn of the 20th century, they stopped at the outbreak of war in 1914. Forty-six years followed during which time the company didn’t make any motorcycles, until 1960 saw the arrival of the Capitano. Although built in Italy by Testi, Kerry imported them and sold them under their own brand. The main allure of the Capitano was its high-revving 49cc engine, which produced 3. 1bhp. This made it the most powerful moped on sale in the UK at the time. This very original example has formed part of a private collection for some years and is now offered with a current V5c.
