Beschreibung
Offered for sale is my beautiful 1959 Vespa 400 in concours condition. The car was subject to a no expense spared professional restoration to factory specifications and was completed at the end of 2018.
PLEASE NOTE! This car is in perfect condition! Better than the Vespa 400 which was sold recently by Sotheby's for £32, 768. 00 (plus £3700 in fees!) in October this year!
The car was a genuine barn find in 2015 having previously spent its life in the ownership of one family in the south of France, it came fitted with a number of very desirable and rare Vespa 400 accessories, including, luggage rack, glove box door (1 of only 160), locking engine cover and handbag hooks.
Prior to the restoration the car and body was in surprisingly good condition with very little corrosion.
A full list of the work carried out is available via email and the car comes with a comprehensive photograph album of the restoration in stages.
The little Vespa 400 is probably the most practical, fun and usable microcars available, it will seat two in comfort and sit happily at 50 to 55 mph all day long. They are nimble and handle remarkably well. It’s basically a genuine miniature car in all respects and being designed and produced by Piaggio, the famed scooter and aircraft manufacturer, it's beautifully engineered. In 2017 and 2018 a number of Vespa 400s took part in the ‘Classic’ Monte Carlo rally, all cars completed the race and even beat a few Jaguars etc!
They come with a full length sunroof for sunny days and an efficient heater for the chilly ones.
As can be seen in the pictures, this car is possibly the most immaculate Vespa 400 in existence and it will make a fantastic show winning event car as well as an excellent financial investment.
It took well over 1000 man hours to restore this Vespa, to have a professional restoration carried out by an experienced restorer to this standard could cost in excess of £50k.
I have been restoring cars both professionally and as a hobby since 1981. My previous full restoration was a 1964 Jensen CV-8 that was a multiple show winner, including Newby Hall Concours (1500 cars plus) three years in a row.
The Vespa is located in the United Kingdom (North Yorkshire) and help with overseas shipping, if required, is available.
The car is only for sale to help fund a new project.
