JAGUAR XJS 5. 3 V12 CONVERTIBLE - MANUAL GEARBOX!
We are absolutely delighted to have purchased this very special Jaguar XJS recently.
4 owners from new with just 85000 miles covered. The last owner was a member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club and a vehicle restorer . He has owned the vehicle for 7 years and painstakingly restored this car over a 2 year period to produce the finished article that you see before you today.
The vehicle was stripped to a bare shell and all bad metal was removed and replaced with replacement panels from a donor vehicle as lots of body panels for xjs are no longer available. Once all the necessary repairs were completed all no metal joints were covered with seam sealer and the full of the underside was covered in stone chip protect for longevity before being painted in black 2k gloss. The car was then fully repainted in Aston Martin racing green metallic which looks absolutely wonderful.
When all the interior trim was removed the opportunity was taken to upgrade this and paint it to match the body colour, the interior carpets and mats were also upgraded at the same time.
This comprehensive restoration also involved removing both axles which were then sent off for powder coating, all 6 shock absorbers were replaced as were the springs, new brake calipers were fitted front and rear and all the fuel lines were replaced for copper items and all the brake hoses braided. Straight through stainless exhausts were also fitted which sound fantastic. Whilst the mechanical overhaul was being completed the opportunity was taken to change the gearbox from its standard 3 speed auto to a getrag 5 speed manual (as per aston martin db7) This absolutely transforms the car into a real drivers car and makes it so more engaging to drive.
This car represents a great opportunity to purchase a very special XJS that has been subject to a wonderful restoration whilst at the same time benefitted from some choice upgrades that transform the overall package. To commission a vehicle of this calibre at a restorers would certainly be a very expensive exercise well in excess of our asking price and this one is ready to jump in and drive straight away!
