Description
An irreplaceable LHD S1 Fulvia to rare 1. 3 “S” specification, low mileage and ownership, in outstanding unrestored condition.
History of this car
According to the full ownership history of this car we have on file, this is an Italian delivered Lancia registered new in San Remo on 29. 5. 1969 supplied by Selima srl to the first owner for the sum of 1, 635, 000 Lira. This superb Fulvia changed hands for the first time in 1997 then again in 2003 and 2014, when it was exported to the UK.
At the time of importation, the mileage was 94, 000 klms and today reads 102, 834klms, so it’s enjoyed regular usage.
This matching numbers Fulvia had a mechanical refresh in 2009 and in the last couple of years over £10, 000 has been spent on the mechanicals. Today this car drives without fault, and must be amongst the best unrestored Rallye S cars available anywhere.
A copy 2015 inspection report from Omicron is in the car’s history file, which confirms it’s an all matching number example (chassis, engine, gearbox).
Body
This is a super straight little car finished in the original bianco colour with thin paint all over (part original in places). The boot lid and doors are in aluminium and panel shuts are crisp and uniform, with the doors closing with the lightest of touches. The paint has a few minor age related imperfections but the overall presentation is impressively original.
Underneath the car all floors, front subframe and so on are original and free of corrosion. It is exceptionally difficult to find a Fulvia as clean as this one underneath.
The glass is undamaged, as is the fine stainless and alloy trim, and bumpers and grille are in equally good order.
The wheels have the correct hubcaps with undamaged wheel embellishers.
Mechanicals
The matching numbers engine in 93hp “S” specification runs like a watch and has benefitted from a rebuilt cylinder head by specialist Omicron in 2018, together with other works (£5, 000 bill on file). The engine is whisper quiet and in perfect tune, showing factory oil pressure.
In 2015 the front suspension was rebuilt with new bushes and the brakes overhauled at Day & White’s with a further expenditure of £5, 000; additional works include a rebuild of the oil cooler with new hoses and much general servicing.
Sale preparation includes the fitment of four new Pirelli Cinturato tyres and the oil and filters have been changed.
With all this careful maintenance the car drives 100% right and is a joy to use.
The engine bay is very original, clean and correct.
MOT untl 9/ 2021.
Interior
This is one of the best original S1 Fulvia interiors around. This Lancia has obviously lived in the dark most of its life as the interior is so fresh…gauges, seats and headlining are all wonderfully crisp for a 50 year old car. A period radio and Bloster steering lock device are fitted.
To maintain comfort, the seats have recently been carefully restuffed, but everything else, including the rubber matting, is original. A set of tailored after market coir overmats are provided (not shown).
Two sets of original keys.
Boot
Excellent condition.
Summary
Opportunities to buy unrestored S1 Fulvias as good as this car are very thin on the ground, particularly in desirable “S” guise. Supplied with history folder including PRA ownership report from new.
