I bought this in Poland in 2015 and stored it at a mechanic friend’s garage over winter. He found himself with a drought of work, so he carried out a fairly extensive list of recommissioning work at a reasonable rate: completely new/ rebuilt braking system filled with silicone fluid; new clutch kit, release bearing and spigot bearing; new clutch hydraulics; new suspension bushes; good replacement front subframe and wishbones; new kingpins; new driveshaft gaiters; new water pump, fuel pump and head gasket; new springs and shock absorbers; new engine and gearbox mounts; new hoses; new tyres; fresh underseal; electronic ignition; full service. There might be a few things I’ve forgotten, too.
I trailered it to the UK and used it for the 2016 Practical Classics ‘winter challenge’ in Yorkshire. It drove very well indeed. It’s since been lying dormant in my barn.
It starts, runs and drives. A little re-recommissioning might be required. I seem to remember that the kingpins were a little stiff in rotation. They might improve with use, or they might need slight adjustment.
It’s very presentable inside and out. It’s been resprayed in its original colour, but I can’t see any evidence of welding.
The 104, 132km on the clock seems plausible, given the lack of interior wear.
