Description
The very last Metro to roll off the Longbridge production line on Friday 20th February 1998 was a Silver 114 Metro GTa and was given the registration R100 END. This British Racing Green GTa was registered as S229 CGC a little later on 12th August 1998 so was also from the last production run. It has a single cam 8 valve fuel injection engine.
Originally supplied by Park Lane Motors in East London.
In August 2020 I purchased it at 17, 530 miles from a dealer who had kept it in dry storage since mid 2019. The previous owner aquired the car in August 2018 and covered only 400 prior to selling it to the dealer. I bought it as an alternative to a GTi which I had been unable to find. However I have now acquired a Gti model in very poor condition so I am selling the GTa to part fund the restoration.
As I had intended to keep the GTa, in September at 17, 691 miles I spent £1, 112 on a complete service and overhaul which included the following.
Engine: replace cam belt, water pump, alternator drive belt, air filter, sparkplugs, fuel filter oil filter, engine oil and antifreeze.
Gearbox: replaced oil.
Brakes: fitted new shoes (rear), brake Pads (front), and drained and refilled the brake fluid.
Suspension: drain and recharge suspension system. Set ride height to 340mm from hub centre to wheel arch.
Tyre tread depth. Nearside front 6. 5mm, nearside rear: 5. 5mm, offside front: 5. 5mm, offside Rear: 5. 5mm, spare 6. 5mm.
Sticking sunroof rectified by replacing damaged handle.
Comprehensive check of all items listed in recommended service schedules up to 96, 000 miles or every 8 years.
MOT passed and valid to 22 September 2021.
