Sells - Dune Buggy Sicra Big of 1973

A buggy dune - also known as Beach Buggy - is a recreational vehicle with wide circles and tires designed for use on the sand of the beaches or deserts. It is usually a homeless car and with rear engine. A buggy dune can be created ex novo or modifying an existing vehicle. Many Buggy dunes have been made starting from the Beetle of Volkswagen. The model is called "insect" (bug from which the term "buggy"). The beetle frame is very suitable for the construction of a beach car because the rear engine configuration improves the traction and air-cooled engine avoids complications associated with a water-cooled engine. Furthermore the front suspensions are cheap and robust and the spare parts of the beetle have always been economical and easy to find. Buggy dunes with fiberglass bodywork were made in many shapes and sizes. The first was the "Meyer Manx" of 1964 built by Bruce Meyers who designed it as a "kit-car" based on the Beetle floor. Later many other companies around the world have created other buggy dunes based on Meyers fiberglass fiber. These are known as "clones".
