A third generation Saab 9-3 Aero convertible, deep metallic Grey, 6 speed manual with a high level of genuine Hirsch upgrades. These Saabs are fantastic convertibles, the handling issues previous generations suffered have all but vanished with the introduction of active 4 wheel steering and are exceptionally refined with the roof up or down.
It comes with a huge history file having been looked after by Bond Street Saab and only had 3 previous owners, but when I found it, it really felt like it deserved a thorough overhaul, the clutch was slipping slightly, the air con didn’t work, there were many rattles from the suspension and the bodywork was showing signs of its age, in reality it just felt a little tired.
All issues have been addressed and fixed including; new radiator, new clutch and flywheel, throttle body removed and cleaned, new suspension arms and bushes, new Sachs Aero shocks and Hirsch springs removed cleaned and refitted with new seats, APH 3” downpipe together with a full stainless steel Jetex duel exhaust and a stage 2 remap by NoobTune running around 250+hp.
The rare 19” double 6 spoke Hirsch alloys which really do look incredible on this Aero, have all been stripped, balanced and powder coated in a slightly darker metallic grey and fitted with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.
Cosmetically, the car has also had a real pamper: small dents have been removed as neatly as possible, the side skirts and both bumpers have been removed and repainted, a Turbo X rear diffuser has been added to accommodate the duel exhaust and the front has benefitted for a total refresh with new Saab grille and fog light surrounds and a Hirsch 4 piece mesh grille set, and it has also had a full machine polish.
The refresh continues in to the interior with a Hirsch Carbon leather dashboard, Hirsch aluminium pedals and a flat bottomed, Nappa leather steering wheel. Hirsch leather centre handles and leather door handles, gear surround and glove box strip together with a new genuine Saab leather gearknob. The interior also features the original double din head unit and sat nav (when it works) which I’ve kept because it suits the interior best.
Overall this is a beautiful and rather rare Saab Aero convertible, it now drives and looks exceptional with a crisp gear change, dynamic handling and a powerful pull throughout the rev range, the exhaust has added a lovely grunt to the 2. 0T and really does reflect just how wonderful and reliable these Saabs are. Having covered around 11k per year it now has 155, 000 miles under it’s belt but shows little sign of them through look or feel.
The Hirsch parts alone have a very high value, but all brought together, it’ll make someone very happy indeed, the roof if fully automatic and performs without fault, the exceptionally comfortable heated leather seats do their job well and keep you warm even on colder days with the roof down.
