Well time has come to part with my Velosolex 3800.
If you are reading this, you probably know what you are looking at, if not it's a "cyclemotor", so essentially a bicycle with a 49cc engine mounted over the front wheel. The motor runs by means of a friction roller onto the front wheel.
The concept of the cyclemotor was to be able to offer cheap transfer to the French masses after WW2, they were/ are very practical and useable, and became quite a stylish icon of 60's France, and and one point could be ridden by anyone over 14 without documents, helmet etc.
In the UK I'm afraid you will need to insure it, and wear a crash helmet. Due to the age it is however MOT & Tax exempt.
It is UK registered on an F plate. I replaced tyres, carburettor filter, fuel pump, plug and general got it running quite well. Easy to start, and runs very sweetly.
It's insured and used on the road, I used it a lot last summer.... and a little bit in what we had of this summer, however I have a few too many projects on the go, so need to be realistic and have a bit of a clear out.
This is no show queen, but if you like Patina, this is for you...."Dans son jus" as the French say.
No doubt there are other jobs to do to make it 100%, i. e. the headlight lens is cracked.... but I never fixed it as going out at on country lanes in the dark didn't seem much fun !
I don't know what it's realistically worth, but looking at other ads/ ebay etc I'm going to put £750, but I'm happy for anyone to make a polite and sensible offer.
The 2CV is not included, they just look good together !
Close to Jct 12 of the M1, or happy to help with delivery at cost. It should fit in the back of a big estate car/ suv etc. It goes in my Landrover Discovery quite easily.
